We have planned ahead for your family’s visit and are happy to serve you and your child as you worship at Westgate. We want to share the following information with you to ensure that your child has the best possible experience with us.
Nursery Care is available for children ages birth through 30 months (2 1/2 years) during both the Sunday School hour and the Worship Service by wonderful volunteers who rotate on a monthly basis.
Our nursery is a bright, inviting place for your little one to enjoy. The room is equipped with everything your baby or toddler needs for a safe and fun visit. With your permission, an age appropriate snack will be offered each morning. We ask that parents send a “no-spill” type sippy cup with their child each time they attend.
Check-In and Pick-Up
Please sign you child in upon arriving and fill out an identification tag. This three-part sticker includes a numbered name tag for your child, a tag identifying his/her diaper bag, and a corresponding “claim ticket” to be used at the time of pickup. Please pickup your child within 10 minutes of the end of service. For safety reasons, you must present your “claim ticket” to a nursery volunteer when you are picking up your child.
Checking on Children
We want you to feel free to check on your little one at any time during the service. There is a split door on one end of the nursery that will allow you to discreetly peek in.
After checking in, we encourage you to just wave a joyful and quick goodbye. A few tears are normal, but this doesn’t usually last long and becomes easier as you attend regularly. We will assure your child that you will be back soon and give them a toy or activity that will interest them. If you child is not soon calmed, we will contact you at the place you designate on the sign in sheet. There are speakers in the foyer that will allow you to hear the service and also attend to a fussy child.
The Nursery Ministry Team strives to provide a safe and nurturing environment, as well as to teach babies to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength as they sit, walk, lie down and get up (Deuteronomy 6). We hope that as we hold and care for your little ones, or play, sing and read to them, that they will experience the joy of God’s love and the fellowship of God’s people.
Our nursery ministry is a vital part of our church’s mission and ministry. It is our church’s desire to provide this ministry so that parents are able to attend Bible classes, worship service, and/or serve in other areas, knowing that their child is being well cared for and loved in Jesus’ name.
